About the Acting of Coaches in Competitive Sports with Young High Athlets - a Pedagogical-Communicative Perspective

Peter Frei

Abstract
In the following the pedagogical-communicative dimensions in acting of coaches in competitive sports with young high athlets will be discussed. The basic of the considerations is a project with elite female gymnasts in Germany which is realised at the Pedagogical Institute of the German Sport University of Cologne (i.e. Frei et al., 2000). In the centre of attention are the perspectives of the coaches and the female gymnasts on daily acting in the gymnasium. Especially the coaches accept the meaning of pedagogical dimensions of their acting but they are not able to give further appropriations. This ambivalence is especially explosive in communicative situations, those situations where coaches and gymnasts have to cooperate.
