Zusammenfassung
Die vorliegende Untersuchung ist ein Beitrag zur Körpergeschichte des Nationalsozialismus. Die zentrale These lautet: Der Nationalsozialismus funktionalisierte die dem Subsystem des modernen Sports inhärenten Macht-, Kontroll- und Disziplinierungspotentiale zur Erreichung seiner militaristischen, rassistischen und antidemokratischen Ziele. Die sportpolitischen Ideologeme waren von der Vorstellung eines zu formenden „Menschenmaterials“, von der „Formung des Volkskörpers“ getragen. Es wird skizziert, wie die ideologische Arbeit am „mobilen Volkskörper“, der durch die Attribute hart („wie Kruppstahl“), zäh („wie Leder“) und flink („wie Windhunde“) charakterisiert war, im Handlungsfeld Sport ansetzte.
Abstract
The following study is a contribution to the history of the physical culture during the National Socialist era. The central thesis is: Nationalsocialism used the inherent potentials in sport – power, control and discipline – to attain militant, racist and antidemocratic aims. The fundamental idea was the formation of the so called “Volkskörper” (“national body”). The author describes how the ideological work happened in the social field of sports, as characterised by the terms “hard” (“hard as Krupp steel”), “tough” (“tough as leather”) and “quick” (“quick as greyhounds”).
